Selling More in a Greenhouse

Selling More in a Greenhouse

Oftentimes, greenhouses are perceived only as plant and produce selling locations, but greenhouses can offer an exciting retail environment for nearly any product. Greenhouses provide calm, serene environments for customers to browse products ranging from plants to greeting cards to gifts and more. No matter what inventory you stock, the abundant natural light of a greenhouse will provide a unique viewing experience compared to the harsh, commercial lighting of brick and mortar stores. Glazing selections with LowE coatings can protect from harsh UV rays and help prevent fabrics from fading while on display.

Greenhouses can be as simple or ornate as fit your product(s) require(s).  Heating and cooling systems and various flooring types, including concrete or tile, can be incorporated into the greenhouse to enhance your space. Whether serving as a showroom or shop for assorted products including, clothing, furniture, and crafts, greenhouse accessories help to provide flexibility in the space.

During the holidays, the season of window shopping, greenhouses can be particularly useful.  The glass walls provide potential customers with the opportunity to view products from the sidewalk during or after normal business hours. This “window shopping” strategy may entice potential customers to enter your store to make a purchase.

A greenhouse can either be freestanding or attached to another building, depending upon your needs. If a lean-to (attached) configuration is selected, your gift shop could be accessed directly from the building it is attached to and/or from a door integrated into one of the greenhouse walls, making your shop more accessible to customers. A café may also benefit from a lean-to-style greenhouse. Customers can enjoy beverages and pastries purchased from your café among the peacefulness of a greenhouse filled with plants.

The open layout of a greenhouse provides you with abundant space to position your merchandise however you desire. An eye-catching display in the greenhouse will be seen from the street due to the glass walls.

Restaurants may find using a greenhouse as a dining area beneficial because it can provide customers with a relaxing space to enjoy their meals. Incorporating plants and flowers into the décor, coupled with the open views the glass walls provide, promotes a sense of dining outdoors. A greenhouse can also offer wineries a unique space for customers to sample their products.
