I have been having issues with my water heater as of late. The pilot light is being very finicky as to whether it wants to stay lit or not. Sometimes I can get the pilot to light and stay lit long enough to heat up some of the water, other times it will just not stay lit. I have already replaced the thermalcouple, after previously finding a thread on this board that suggested such when someone else had similar problem. However, it doesn't seem to have solved the problem (though it has helped it). The water heater itself is only a year old, and I'm at a loss of what to do. On a side note, not sure if this means much or not, but I'm not too familiar with how natural gas burns, but from experience with a gas stove, I was sure it burns pretty much blue, however the water heater is burning blue most of the time, occasionally is spikes to an orange color. Does this mean anything? Thanks, IP: Logged |

well you have two options. First, you should not be having any problems with a 1 year water heater, contact the company who installed the water heater and tell them your serial numbers for your warranty. It will then be replaced or repaired. you should have a 5 year warranty. 2nd. if they do come out to repair it, I have a feeling that the pilot just needs cleaned. If the pilot goes out on new systems, usually is just needing the pilot cleaned. Hope I helped. ------------------ IP: Logged |
