Craig S. Davies obviously learned a number of valuable lessons from “running” the other end of a shovel. Most of us see just plain, old dirt. Davies sees both a need and a solution, which led him to create a fascinating new and more efficient way to dispose of fill dirt while helping the environment at the same time. While running that shovel, including owning and operating excavation companies, Davies observed the inefficiencies and waste associated with finding locations for fill dirt. “It just dawned on me after numerous years in the excavation business, there’s got to be a better and more efficient way to dispose of fill,” said Davies. Thus the idea was born combining his extensive knowledge of the excavation business with a powerful Internet solution. Davies has launched a new Web site, DirtGeneral.com, which uses the reach of the Internet to match excavators with excess fill to convenient dump sites. “Why go to the expense and lost time of running costly trucks all over the place when a convenient dump site might be just a half mile away?
