I need to know what the laws are concerning this type of salvage, where/how to find such salvagable structures, and whom to ask to gain entry to a certain property legally. Hello Nancy,

In just about every major city, there are historical preservation programs funded by private non-profit groups as well as government agencies to restore and rehabilitate older parts of that city or county.

I would try offering them your time or services on a voluntary basis, this would provably expose you to a great deal of relevant information, as well as hands on experience and the all important “inside contacts” you’d need to get into that specialty.
