Interior Design Student Seeking Help
Posted on 05.04.04 by admin @ 22:48 PDT

Message:
I am a student of Interior Design. I am looking for information on salvaging old residences and other abandoned structures. I need to know what the laws are concerning this type of salvage, where/how to find such salvagable structures, and whom to ask to gain entry to a certain property legally. If you can be of any assistance in directing me to this information, or to someone who can help, I’d really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Nancy

Hello Nancy,

In just about every major city, there are historical preservation programs funded by private non-profit groups as well as government agencies to restore and rehabilitate older parts of that city or county.

I would try offering them your time or services on a voluntary basis, this would provably expose you to a great deal of relevant information, as well as hands on experience and the all important “inside contacts” you’d need to get into that specialty.

I hope this helps :).
