A line of premium fiberglass cloth products, designed for use in industrial applications requiring an incombustible high temperature fabric, is available from Agis Manufacturing Company.
Engineered to withstand temperatures up to 1000° F, Agis fiberglass cloth meets U.S. Coast Guard requirements for incombustible materials and will not burn or smolder.
Among the industrial applications for which Agis premium fiberglass cloth is suited are foundry, metalworking and heat treating. The fabric is recommended for use in welding curtains, fire blankets, insulation blankets, industrial and marine lagging, asbestos cloth substitute and drape cloths, among others.
In contrast to many high temperature fabrics, Agis fiberglass cloth is exceptionally strong; it exhibits one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any industrial textile. Even under service conditions where temperatures reach 1000° F, the fabric retains 25% of its tensile strength.
It also exhibits good thermal conductivity, high dielectric strength and low constants.
Agis fiberglass cloth is a plain, tightly woven cloth manufactured from texturized fiberglass yarn; it contains no compound, cement or wire. In the manufacturing process, a proprietary heat treatment technique is applied to the surface which renders the cloth free of most surface grit, virtually eliminates "picking" of the skin, and facilitates handling. A non-fraying selvage edge is standard.
Because of its unusual characteristics, the fabric may be readily cut, formed and sewn for many industrial applications.
Agis fiberglass cloth's non-cellular composition also renders it moisture-resistant. Unlike other gasketing or insulating materials, the product will not swell, stretch, shrink, deteriorate or change chemically even after long exposure to water.
Agis premium fiberglass cloth is available in various weights (8.5 to 40 ounces per square yard); finishes (heat-treated, waterproofed, weave set, renwet and/or flameproof); coatings (neoprene, vinyl and TeflonŽ, and constructions (aluminized on one side for thermal reflection; with brass or stainless steel wire inserts for increased tensile strength). Standard roll length: 50 yards.
